PRESS RELEASE/July 2004
Important Meeting in Bordeaux - 5 new members

The third General Assembly of the "International Associated Women in Wine" took place at the end of June 2004 in the wine centre of Bordeaux – in the "Salon du Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux" (CIVB). The French member association "LES ALIENOR DU VIN DE BORDEAUX" organized the assembly in the best possible way on the occasion of their 10th anniversary.

Only one year after the first official assembly in Mainz/Germany the federation could already increase its membership enormously: Five new associations applied for membership. With the joining of women of wine from the French areas Beaujolais, Bourgogne and Rhône the network is now covering most of the production areas in France. The joining of the Italian association "Le Donne del vino" with more than 500 members and their long experience from the Italian wine business is an important step in the development of the federation. The well-known Austrian association "11 Frauen und ihre Weine" will represent Austria together with "Die Weinschwestern", who belong to the founders already.

"We are very glad to welcome the new partners. It shows that more and more women in the wine business feel the need to exchange with their colleagues in other countries and to create a global network to improve personal skills as well as the knowledge of the consumers in wine and the culture behind it." said Sonia Galimberti, Spain, the President of the international association.

Other important topics of the meeting were: The presentation of the new logo, discussions on a web-site and a new brochure presenting all member associations, a possible presentation of the association at the VINEXPO wine exhibition and participations at the "Weinwelt München 2005", exposition in Munich in June 2005, and at the exposition "OMEK" in Budapest in September 2005" in Hungary.
